If they were housebroken, it would be ok! And, now they are trying to roost inside at night...when I'm late putting them in. My question - Is there some way to deter chicken entry through the sliding glass door opening? Do chickens figure out how to use dog doors/flaps? I'm trying to preserve the dogs' ability to get outside in the sunshine...but the chicken poop and feathers.....

How To Build A Better Chicken Waterer

A video of a Do-It-Yourself chicken waterer made that keeps the water clean.

And information to build one if you are interested:
Selling the idea of chickens

Hi.
I need some help. I do see pin feathers coming back in, but I am not sure if I need to be concerned. She seems fine, it's just odd this spot would turn up in the middle of her downy feathers. Anyone seen this problem before? Any ideas?

Funny looking egg... help?

Hi there!

I've had my two chickens for a couple of months now and everyday I get a nice medium brown egg from each of them. I noticed that one of them stopped laying the last few days, so I figured she was just taking a break and didn't worry too much. Then this morning I came out to find one normal egg and one super-light colored and speckled egg. It also has some sort of weird growth-looking thing on the tip. I broke it open, and the yolk looked fine but the shell was super thin and basically fell apart.

Both of them usually free-range during the day, always have access to food and clean water, oyster shells to scratch at and I even give them a tiny bit of milk most afternoons (they love it!).

Anyone have any idea why just the one would lay something like this?

meat chickens

Is anyone here raising meat chickens as well as laying chickens? Unfortunately, after tearing out the article and throwing away the issue, I realized there is no source listed for this netting in the blurb. Does anyone know where I may purchase it?
