Last year I planted some of my herbs and peppers in pots so I could go out and move them with the sun when the shadows started creeping across the yard. It would be nice to be able to wheel them, rather than lugging several individual heavy terra cotta pots two feet every few hours !!!

The EarthBox looks really great, since it has an irrigation system AND wheels - has anyone tried these out? I'm thinking I could put my tomatoes in one, freeing up a lot of space in the full sun patch where they were planted last year, and get one for the herbs and peppers, too. With the irrigation system, they'd need less attention so I could concentrate on the in-ground crop more (it requires a LOT of weeding).
If anyone's had any experience with these earthboxes, I'd appreciate any insight you might have on their use!

Thanks.

Looking For Pot for Garden

I was out in Kansas in October and I seen cattle barrels that they were seing for pots in the garden to plant there vegetables in and they would put one inside another one that was bigger and water them like a flower pot.

My question is where can one find these barrels? They are only a half of a barrel not a whole barrel the feed comes in.

I live in Northwest Ohio. I am hoping someone can help me out here.

Best Vegetable To Plant in Containers

I was thinking about planting some veggies in containers this year. I don't use it anymore, and put water in it to get it out of the container. The I wondered. . .could I pour this stuff in the garden? Would it work or kill off all my plants? Been looking for an answer, but not found one yet. Does anyone else know if this is a good thing, or if I should just dump it?

Thanks.

Amy

Watering in the Summer Time

I don't know about the rest of you but here in Norther California the heat is finally on. And my poor plants are hating on me.

I've been watering them in the evenings when it's cooler but I'm wondering if I should also give them a little drink during the day too. I've always been told to do it either in the morning or the evening and I've been doing evening because I'm afraid part of the water I'd give is being evaporated. However, my current concern is that my poor plants are being fried in the heat.

So I'd like to know, during the hot summer months when do you water your plants and how often do you water them?

Onions in a Container?

Has anyone successfully grown onions in a container? If so, how big of a container or what did you use?

I'd love to grow onions, however I have a nice slab of concrete in my backyard and need to a bed or container of some sort.

Thanks!

How much is too much?

Hey there! I'm pretty new to the site and pretty new to Zone 9a/9b (actually can't quite tell which zone I'm exactly in)....So I'm container gardening for the first time in the Valley of the Sun region in AZ.

I've planted peas, beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, Brussels sprouts, yellow squash, zucchini, potatoes, onions, spinach, and some herbs. Some things seem to be doing great, however some seem to be struggling and I'm beginning to wonder if I put too much in a bucket?

I have 18 plastic tote buckets (like the kind you can buy at Wal-Mart), I got the idea from a container gardening book. I have 3 Brussels Sprouts in a bucket, same with the summer squash and I'm wondering if maybe it needs to be two?

I'm curious as to what other people are using for buckets as well?

Thanks so much and happy gardening!!

-J-

Has anyone "dabbled into" Hydroponic gardening?
